Abstract

Along with the increasing number of computer user, computers damage problems become a complicated matter. It is caused by computer users that have less knowledge about computer, especially in dealing with computer hardware trouble. Therefore, it takes a system that could replace the role of an expert in diagnosing computer trouble. The system is called expert system that diagnoses the computers trouble. The purpose of this expert system is to make users easy to solve the problems on their computers without visiting computer technician. The system created is web-based expert system with Certainty Factor method, which can provide value to the result of the diagnosis so that users trust in the results given by this expert system. The method used to determine the certainty of the diagnosis of the trouble to the computer is Certainty Factor. The result of this research shows that the application of the Certainty Factor can obtain the degree of certainty of types of trouble based on the symptoms. The application built will facilitate in providing solution to the computer malfunction in the hardware that can facilitate users or engineers to find a solution quickly.
