Abstract

Handsanitizer from alcohol and triclosan can cause skin dehydration, irritation, burning sensation on the skin, bacterial resistance to trigger cancer. So that the making of handasanitizer was developed with natural ingredients. Natural ingredients used are breadfruit leaves. The research objective was to determine the potential of breadfruit leaf extract which can be used as a handsanitizer from natural ingredients that are safer for the skin. The method used is to collect, analyze and summarize journals in accordance with the objectives. The intended articles are in the range 2015-2016, are full text and original text. Search for articles using databased Google scholar and Semantic Scholar with keywords “Screening Phytochemical AND Chemical Compounds AND Leaf Extract AND Artocarpus altilis AND Breadfruit” Atau “Antimicrobial AND Leaf Extract AND Artocarpus altilis AND Breadfruit ” Atau “Hand Sanitizer AND Formulation AND Leaf Extract AND antimicrobial”. The results found that breadfruit leaf extract has the potential to be used as a handsanitizer, because breadfruit leaves contain phytochemicals, one of which is flavonoids. Flavonoid compounds have antibacterial activity in S.Aureus and E.Colli with strong category of inhibition zone. The best extraction method using maceration and ethanol solvent. Ethanol solvent is used because it is polar. The conclusion shows that breadfruit leaf extract has the potential as an active ingredient or substance in making handsanitizers because it has antibacterial compounds and activity.
