Abstract

Background: In indonesia, Those suffering hypertension were estimated to be 15 millions individuals. Its prevalence in adult was 6-15%,in which 50% of them did not realize that they were suffering from it since they did not avoid neither did understand its risk factors.The promblem reviewed in this research was what factor related to the hypertension inciden,Objective: to determine the relationship of the factors that influence the causes of hypertension at the health ceter Magelang District. Methods: the study is a quantitave analytic study with a case control approach.The population of thuis study were patients with hypertension health center Magelang District. The sampling technique with a sampel 176 respondents. The data were processed using care in the chi square statistical test. Results: from the research result and discussion, it could be concluded that the factor related to hypertension incidence in health center Magelang District were age (p= 0,001, OR=12,88), fat consumption (p= 0,038 OR = 0,037), salt consumption (p=0,037 OR = 0,034), and activity patterns (p= 0,045 OR= 0,535). On the other hand,the factors unrelated to hypertension incidence were sex (P= 0,869 OR=1,055), genetic factors (P= 0,070 OR=1,732), stress (P=0,406 OR=2,048),alcohol assumption (P= 0,071 OR=0,549), smoking habits (P= 0,262 OR=1,525), and excessive weight (P= 0,0570 OR=0,569). Based on the result,the suggestions the researcher could offer were to improve their health status by having themselves checked on more regular basis, particularly for their blood pressure and for the health center to more routinely provide the society with counseling and to improve more their periodic examination activity to those having high blood pressure in order to make them maintain their health.
