Abstract
Background: Mental disorders are a collection of abnormal conditions, both physical and mental disorders. One of the kinds of mental disorders is violent behavior. Violent or aggressive behavior is a form of behavior that injures a person physically or psychologically. To reduce the patient's level of violent behavior, a good treatment is needed and the nurse's knowledge of the technique is needed. Objective: This study aims to identify a description of the level of knowledge of nurses in handling violent behavior patients. Methods: This research uses Descriptive research methods, this research is an observational study with a sampling technique, namely Simple Random Purposive Sampling as many as 61 mental nurses.. The instrument in the study used a knowledge questionnaire which consisted of 10 questions and used data analysis P = f / n x 100. Results: The results of the study about the level of knowledge of nurses in handling violent behavior patients at RSJ Prof. Dr. Soerojo Magelang showed that 61 respondents who were researched obtained a sufficient level of knowledge as many as 41 respondents (67.2%), good knowledge was 12 respondents (19.7%), while less knowledge was as many as 8 respondents (13.1%). Conclusion: The level of knowledge of nurses in handling violent behavior patients is quite sufficient. For this reason, it is advisable for nurses who work in the room to further improve education and knowledge in handling violent behavior patients.
